Fried Bread : French Toast : Eggy Bread

Clockwise from top left:
Dipping bread in milk & egg mix;
Frying in hot virgin oil oil;
Fried bread on plate;
Cinnamon & sugar mix for sprinkling on fried bread.
Yummy, yummy eating on a winter's morn in Melbourne.

My friend, Belinda, came to visit yesterday bringing with her a gift of Mountain Bread (so appropriate from someone living in the Dandenong Ranges) and home grown eggs.  Belinda could be called an urban homesteader.   To find out what this means in the daily life of a creative person, please go to  Belinda's Place.  Let me tell you this girl is committed, creative, intelligent and methodical.  There is a lot to learn from her.

Breakfast for the NSW State of Origin team?

Lucy has left a comment on my post below on the Rum Omelette.
She asks:
So, what would you recommend for the NSW team's breakfast?
Miss Eagle replied:
A Hunter red, perhaps? Just don't think it would be the mother's milk that Bundy is - nor would it put hairs on the chest of the Cockroaches.
So, dear Reader, here is the question - or equation, if your prefer?
If a Bundy Rum Omelette would be a great breakfast for the Queensland State of Origin team, what then should the New South Wales team have?
Please let Miss Eagle have your clever answers.
Miss E will provide a prize for the cleverest.

Deprivation leaves scars

Shauna over at Cooking with Ginger reports on how the Mothership kept only healthy food in the house. This brought back memories for me. I get a hard time from my 30 something and 40 something kids. Thick slices of homemade wholemeal bread in school lunches. The plastic garbage bins in the kitchen with wholemeal flour and raw sugar. But there was the greatest child abuse of all - Coco Pops deprivation. The cereals in our house were Vita Brits, Weet Bix, Corn Flakes, Rice Bubbles and Uncle Toby's Oats. Coco Pops (their favourite) and Fruit Loops were treats for Christmas and Easter. Even now, Coco Pops puts in an appearance in my daughter's pantry. Oh, the scars of deprivation!
