Kath and Kim: tunnelling through

It is nearly ready! Melbourne's latest Freeway - the Mitcham to Frankston or the Scoresby as it is often known. It is only ten minutes from Upper Gully and Miss Eagle will probably love its convenience. Shame on me - as I remember the beautiful farmland it subsumed - including a place with miniature ponies.
Herself can be a clever drawers at times and - as soon as she heard the announcement - she had the names: Kath and Kim.
I don't think the names are worth entering because you see, dear Reader, there are guidelines. And, after a read of those, it seems that Kath and Kim may not cut the mustard.
But that, dear Reader, should not really matter. The tunnels can have a flash, guide-line meeting name for the toffs. But for the rest of us we know that, just as at Fountain Gate in south-east Melbourne, Kath and Kim are stars so their names can become through common and widespread usage the names for the stars of convenience in private transport in south-east Melbourne.

What a big baby, 39Km long yet its birth is going to be premature as it opening soon and much earlier than was planned in 2008 ahead of schedule.

But like most big babies it was expensive with total project costs coming in at around 3.8 Billion and 2.5 Billion of constructions costs activity spread across Victoria.

There are a total of 88 bridges and 17 major interchanges which take up a lot of land.
However Connect East has attempted to focus on informing the community and enhancing the environment with dozens of wetlands along 35km of created shared pathways, architecturally designed noise walls and landscaping including the planting of around 4 million additional trees and shrubs.

I think Kath and Kim will find Australia’s biggest road project of some interest.

Best wishes

I notice that the DVD of the latest Kath and Kim is available - I missed the one with Warney in it!

As for the freeway, I'm wondering how much extra traffic it will create - build a road and the cars will come.

Thank you for the wonderful basket of goodies, btw, and how did you know I liked baskets??

Wow, Lindsay. I didn't know all those statistics. And, of course, the resumption of all that productive land has not been opportunity-costed, I bet.

I didn't know Val - but I love 'em in all shapes and sizes so I thought that one would look OK with marmalade pots in it. Glad you like it.
